Earn 2,000 United Miles for Working Out

Just in time for swim suit season – United is rolling out a new promo for 2,000 miles after you enroll in a gym that’s in their network.

2,000 United Miles Working Out

2,000 United Miles

I enjoy working out, but ever since I started blogging, the gym time has been sacrificed. I’m not blaming y’all, but I am.

United ran this promo earlier in the year as well, so if you didn’t take advantage of it then, get off your butt and do it now.

My gym isn’t one of the eligible gyms, but I saw many name brand gyms when I searched the United website, including 24 hr fitness, Curves, and Cross Fit. Watch out for up front fees and cancelation fees when signing up for a gym membership, but you’re guaranteed the lowest rate going through the United site, and 2,000 miles.

Just a heads up if you’re looking to join a gym this summer!

New Perk: United Explorer waives foreign transaction fees – effective June 1, 2013

In a move to improve its United MileageBold® Explorer Card, Chase has unveiled a new bennie: no more foreign transaction fees.

United Explorer 0% Forex Fee

United Explorer 0% Forex Fee

It’s always nice to see new benefits on a card I already have in my wallet. I’ll take no foreign transaction fees, even if it isn’t chip & pin. In most of my travels, I have only needed chip & pin a small portion of the time.

I know United elites aren’t too fond of the United Explorer, but it does have some nice features for the leisurely United traveler (me). You receive priority boarding, 2 United Club passes every anniversary, free checked bag for you and a companion, and primary car rental coverage.

These benefits easily make the card worth paying the $95 annual fee.

The public (my affiliate) offer is below, but don’t apply for it before checking if you have a targeted offer in your United account, or through your email. Many people have been successful receiving the higher bonus by sending Chase a secure message after applying for the public offer, but I can’t guaranteed that.

Now that the card has 0% foreign transaction fees (starting June 1) on top of the primary car rental insurance, it will be a go-to of mine when renting cars abroad.

This is one of the cards Jordan and I keep open because we travel enough (a few times a year) on United for the benefits to justify the annual fee. It’s not a great everyday spending card, but at the end of the day, I’m happy with the perks that it provides me. They may not make sense for you, though, especially if you’re already a United elite.

2,000 United MileagePlus Miles for Working Out

I received an email from United last night with details on how you can earn 2,000 United miles for getting your work out on. I enjoy working out (well, I enjoy how I feel after I work out), so I already have a membership at a gym that has basketball courts. No offense to you treadmill lovers, but I just can’t run in place forever…I need a ball involved.

2,000 United Miles

I used to work out A LOT more before I started blogging, but that’s another story. I don’t necessarily like working out in January because the gym is crowded with people who have made their New Year’s resolution to work out. But in a mere month, it’s back to the regulars running the place. Don’t be one of those people who fizzles out. Just make it part of your routine! And now you can earn 2,000 miles for joining. If you and your wife join, that’s 4,000 miles. Go already.

I wouldn’t recommend joining the gym —collecting the miles—and then quitting. Don’t be a quitter. Usually, there are enrollment fees and/or gym contracts anyway. I did a quick search for Austin and 19 gyms pulled up, so you should have some options. And they say the lowest price is guaranteed on all new memberships, so there may be no better time.

Some insurances or employers will pay your monthly dues or contribute, so keep that in mind. There are a million reasons stopping you from joining a gym, but don’t listen to them. Being active (gym or no gym) will bring you more energy and it’s a great de-stresser. Ok, I’ll get off my soap box now. I just need to hear it myself. ;)
