Chase Disney Card…is it worth it? for Anyone?

So many memories come to mind when I hear the word “Disney”. I instantly go back to my childhood… I was probably 8-10 yrs. old on my summer family vaca at Disney Land. Good times, right? NO. I was on the “thrilling” ride, “It’s a Small World After All” (I have 3 sisters and they had to go on it), and I remember being so bored as they kept playing the song over and over again. So to try and add a little life to the ride and get my mind off the song, I stuck my arm in the water to try to touch some stuff (just being a boy, really). Then, in a trance from the song, I was looking left when the boat all of a sudden swayed right, strongly crushing my right arm in between the boat and the side concrete wall. My whole arm instantly turned a blue/yellow color. Good times.

The other story I think of is when Jordan and I went to Disney World a few months after we were married. We had a pretty good time, but when we were looking back at photos after the trip, there was one that stuck out more than others. A photo that was so unflaterring of me that I instantly sprung up off the couch, drove to the gym, signed up for a membership and got right on the treadmill. Married life had been a little too good for me.

Anyway, that is neither here nor there. On to the Disney Rewards® Visa® Card.

I know a lot families and couples who have a strong affection for Disney and their theme parks and cruises. But does that make the Chase Disney card right for them?

Basically this is only a card for you if you are a Disney fanatic and love buying Disney gear (10% off merchandise over $50), going on multiple Disney trips, cruises, AND you already have the other Chase Rewards Card products. If that’s you, you will get a $100 statement credit for signing up and 2% in “Disney” rewards dollars at gas station, grocery stores, and restaurants. Not very sexy. Oh, and you will get special theme park “perks”, such as character meet ups. That might be a big deal for the kiddos.

There are some perks here, but I would still prefer to earn Ultimate Rewards points from my Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred®  and Ink Bold® Business Card.

I would choose wisely with your Chase rewards card applications and don’t forget that the British Airways card is GOING away June 7th (see here).

    I had a Disney Credit Card when my kids were young. We went to Disney World in Florida several times. The fact that I used it only for vacation at Disney, kept me from overspending. I paid off the balance before taking the trip again. We loved everything there. and, we were smart enough to keep our hands inside the boat (AS INSTRUCTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE RIDE)
