DirecTV 25,000 American AAdvantage Miles Offer is Baaack.

If you are switching cable/satellite providers and love AA miles, then pay attention.

A couple of months ago, I posted about this deal and signed up for it myself. I have already spent the 25,000 AAdvantage miles I received. Earn and burn.

I love earning miles for services that I already enjoy and partake in. Ha, partake.

Note: The terms and conditions say for “new customers only (with a 24 month lease)”. If you have had DirectTV before, then proceed at your own risk. In my experience, they will not give you the bonus. However, I signed up my new account under my wife’s name and was guaranteed the new customer deal. DirecTV did pull my wifes credit when signing her up. I wasn’t thrilled about this, but the 25,000 AA miles made up for it. The sign-up bonus of 25,000 AAdvantage mile was like getting the first year for free. Plus, only Directv has the NFL Ticket (sports reference).

The deal comes with a locked in rate of $29 per month for a year and then a rate of $45 the second year. In the past, when DirecTV raised the rate after the first year, I just called in and threatened to cancel. They then lowered my rate back to the introductory rate. How’s that for a reconsideration.

I would hop on this deal…it’s a good one if you are looking for a satellite provider. They are the best satellite company out there, and 25,000 AA miles is enough for a round trip domestic reward. I’ll take it!

How did you threaten to cancel if you had a 24 month lease?

I just wait a year and when my rate goes up- I call in ala the “retention bonus” call. Every time I have said I’m not happy with the rate and wanted to discuss terminating my contract- they offered to lower the price. Of course, this can’t be guaranteed, but it has worked for me in the past.

Can you go into more detail on how you were able to open an account under your wifes name and get the points?  Did you have to go with out Direct TV for a certain amount of time.  I was told the promotion was linked to my address and if I canceled and opened an account with my wife, I wouldn’t receive the points because of that.  I obviously realize that my address is a mute point as I can take my dish and box where ever I want to.  Did you say you have a new address now?

    Thanks in advance!

DirectTv does have a current promotion where they are offering the 25K miles plus the Sunday ticket for free.

Hey, I went without Directv for a couple months, then had my wife called in and set up a new service. She confirmed the bonus was good for her, and the 25k AA miles posted in 4-6 weeks. I would call back and try another rep. I hope this helps and let me know what happens.

I signed up on May 26, 2012 and am still waiting (Sept. 4,2012) for my points. I ask if we could put the points on my husbands AA account since he travels for work and was guaranteed that would not be a problem, now every time I call I get the run around. Empty promises of the AA miles being excalated and it never is. No one can answer my question. Any advice?

That’s a bummer! Have you called Directv?
