Earlier than in past years, airlines have released their sales on Thanksgiving Business Class to Europe! This is a great thing, because you can buy a ticket that normally retails for ~$5,000 often for under $2,000. Yes, this deal is for people who normally spend $$ on tickets.
The basic rules are that you need to depart during Thanksgiving week, and include a Saturday night stay. So little business travel happens that week because of the holiday in the US (during which a lot of domestic travel happens…), that airlines offer huge discounts on their fares!
Check out this example of a Houston to London fare on United:
Or this fare from Chicago on Delta:
It’s not just United and Delta, but also most Star Alliance or SkyTeam flights across the pond. Interestingly, I’m not finding any fares on American [or other OneWorld carriers] yet, which I find strange. But, these are great opportunities for a getaway where you can ride in business class for only about a 80% premium on economy fares, which run over $1,100 on these routes! Business class fares also generally earn you a bonus. The P fare above on United will earn 150% award and premier miles, and the Z fare on Delta similarly earns 150% Skymiles & Medallion Qualifying Miles.
I took advantage of this sale last year to Germany to propose to my fiancee (she couldn’t say no!), and then used a lot of the miles we earned to book our honeymoon trip to the Maldives, which is coming in less than 2 weeks! If you’re looking for a getaway, and can afford the extra expense, this is a great time to buy!
