My favorite drink when traveling in Mexico is Horchata. Funniest experience at a hotel is being locked out of my room wearing only a t-shirt and underwear after setting my room service trays outside my door. Luckily a cleaning lady on same floor immediately came to my rescue before anyone else saw me.

    • http://www.NoobTraveler.com/ Noob Traveler

Lol, awkward! I hope it was a large t-shirt.

Got back to my room at the end of a long night with high school youth and my room was COMPLETELY trashed, including a sink off the wall, and no working lights. I was just about to tear some heads off when I thought to look at the number on my door. Turns out I made it to a floor the hotel was renovating – not my room at all. Still, I dont believe my blood pressure EVER returned to normal.

My favorite beverage is Diet Coke and my funniest hotel experience: we took my daughter and niece to Florida and planned a stop at Disney. Trying to save money, I located a hotel a short distance away from Disney for $55 a night including continental breakfast. One of the beds in the room was a Murphy bed that when pulled out cut off access to the bathroom unless you climbed over the bed. “Continental Breakfast” consisted of Little Debbie danishes, weak coffee and juice boxes. The outdoor pool had a layer of green slime growing along the edges. Needless to say, the kids didn’t care one bit LOL.

Sounds like a great contest. Count me in.
My favorite beverage is fresh squeezed OJ. My funniest hotel experience happened many years ago. I was traveling into Canada, had paid for a motel room and was about to check in. Mind you, my husband was walking in first carrying our sleeping child when he said quietly to me, honey back up. I did not understand at first why he would want me to back up, but being a well trained and tired wife, I did back up. To our surprise, our room was full of 4 people in 2 separate beds. The hotel ran out of rooms, realized we were coming in late, and gave away our room. Long story short. We beat feet down to the lobby and literally took the keys out of the hand of the next hotel guest trying to rent a room. It was the absolute “last” room available. We did not make a friend that night. Those poor people who almost had 3 total strangers in their room. UGG

Finding strangers sleeping in your hotel room is the worst!

Brushed my teeth, got dressed for bed, and pulled back the sheets only to discover a giant bloodstain on the bed – exactly where genital regions would have been. It was a deep, rich color, meaning the bed had been made, but the sheets hadn’t been changed. Took a photo at showed it to the guy at the front desk. Like me, he was absolutely mortified.

I usually drink ginger ale on vacation. One of the hotels I stayed in while traveling for work, a Hilton I think, had a drawer full of lingerie. I wasn’t about to touch any of it so I called housekeeping to have it removed. I received a really interesting look from the housekeeper.

    • http://www.NoobTraveler.com/ Noob Traveler

Wow, a drawer full of lingerie is always an interesting find.

After traveling to Europe on points 2 years in a row in First Class and using Hilton’s Lounges i have a newly acquired taste for Champagne, but I also like a good German Beer, or Irish Whiskey and who can forget a good Scotch. There are so many choices and when I was on that Lufthansa flight from EWR to MUC I just had to try them all and really did like them all so choosing just one really isn’t easy because it really depends on where you are. Even living in NYC area its tough because they bring the rest of the World to one city and so once again. When in Rome.

I am a mother of four little girls. I once was putting them on a hotel elevator, and was determined to not let them get lost. I actually picked up someone else’s daughter! The toddler looked at me like I was abducting her. Her mother was crying laughing. Not my finest day! Your blog is awesome!
