Noob Review: Hyatt Hotel Credit Card

Edit: this offer has expired

Yes, this is another Chase card…Where you at, Amex and Citi?

Here’s the deal: The Hyatt card comes with a sign-up bonus of 2 free award nights at ANY Hyatt property worldwide! I put that around a value of $1,000 if you stay at a top of the line property. You will have 1 year to use the 2 free award night certificates. Here’s some good news: there is no minimum spend to meet. Just swipe the card once and the sign-up bonus is yours, all yours. This card is also great for international travel because it has a 0% foreign transaction fee AND smart chip technology! There is an annual fee of $75, BUT you receive a free award night EVERY anniversary at a category 1-4 Hyatt property. This more than offsets the annual fee. The Hyatt card also gives you Platinum status as long as you hold the card!

Maj Perk- 2 Free Suite Upgrades

MAJOR PERK: If you have Platinum status BEFORE applying for the Hyatt card, you will get TWO suite upgrades. This is major. The suite upgrades are good for up to 7 days and must be used on paid stays. A couple weeks ago, I posted about how to get Platinum status with Hyatt for FREE for 90 days, but the promo ends May 11. That gives you a little over 3 weeks to take advantage of the deal. Tick tock. If you sign up for the free Platinum status promo, then you would have 90 days to sign up for the Hyatt card to receive the additional benefit of two free suite upgrades.

Platinum status with Hyatt gives you:

  • 2pm late checkout (subject to availability at resorts)
  • Free internet access
  • 15% bonus on points earned from Hyatt stays

If you hold Diamond status with Hyatt then your two free certificates will be good for suites! If you already have elite status with another hotel program, you may be able to get Diamond (top tier) status for 90 days free by emailing goldpassport@hyatt.com. I was able to do this last month. Hyatt gives you 4 free suite upgrades on paid stays during your free Diamond trial period. Score.

Noober-ific

I have had my eye on the Hyatt Visa for some time now; it’s going in my next set of apps fo sho. I plan on using the two free nights at the stellar Hyatt Paris- Vendome. And if the wife goes for this card, then we can get four nights or over $2,000 in value at Hyatt. Learn to love it.

Apply here for the Hyatt Credit Card - [ I do receive a referral for the Hyatt card; only use my link if you like me or somewhat enjoy my blog. ]

    Hi Noob,
Do u know if this is considered a “new” Hyatt product from Chase & am I likely to get the bonus if I’ve had the Hyatt card b4 (& received 2 free night certs), but cancelled it in Jan 2012?
Thnx! keep up the great posts!

Unfortunately, you wouldn’t be eligible to receive the sign-up bonus for a second time. It’s not considered a “new” product by Chase. Thanks for the kinds words and for tuning into the blog!

Do the two night you get at sign up have an expiration date? If so, how long do you have to use them?

Yes, you will have 1 year to use the two award nights certificates. Sorry, I left out that detail. I will update the post. Thanks for tuning in!

I’d be curious to see what dates are available for a consecutive 4-night free room redemption at the Park Hyatt in Paris (which everybody seems to always list as the best redemption because of its outrageous prices). I believe the only room that qualifies for a free night is a Park Queen, which in my minimal browsing, has been VERY hard to find availability for. Have you been able to actually see availability for this hotel in Paris?

Hey Neil- You are right, finding 4 consecutive nights at the Paris-Vendome would be challenging. I always go to Paris in non-peak season to increase my chances of finding availability. There are also two other Hyatt properties in Paris- the Hyatt Regency Paris – Madeleine and Hyatt Regency Paris – Charles de Gaulle. I haven’t stayed at either one of these hotels, but they look legit.

If I do sign the wife up for the Hyatt card as well, I will probably break up the 4 awards nights. We like to experience the local B&B’s when we travel too. But that’s just us.

I hope this helps and let me know if you find 4 nights at the Vedome!
