Remember to Reconsider….Expedite!

Pick up the phone, yo.

I know many Noobers out there were throwing app parties (I have a goal that “app-o- rama” will be outlawed… just typing it out made me throw up a little) earlier in the week. Congrats to all those who have just started collecting miles and points, and to those vets who are replenishing their stash (that’s me, after blowing my miles on Euro and Thailand tix).

Some of these noobs have emailed, asking about the reconsideration/expedite phone call. What is it? What do I say? When do I call? So, I thought I would briefly remind everyone, and point people back to my previous post on the reconsideration phone call.

If you weren’t instantly approved on your recent applications, you don’t have to take that S!@#- you can call in, and talk to a rep to expedite a decision on your app. Do you have to call in? Nope. You can wait the 10-14 days (sometimes 30) for the banks to make a decision. But, I always call that day. I’m impatient when it comes to earning miles.

If you are doing multiple Chase applications, you will definitely not be instantly approved for your second card. That’s fine, you are still ok. Just pick up the phone and make the 5 minute call. It’s really just a technicality in most cases.

Say you are the patient kind, and you wait the 10-30 days and receive a letter in the mail saying you are DENIED. Don’t panic or give up. Pick up the phone and call. You can often get your application reconsidered by just calling in. The bank may want you to move around some credit, close an existing account, or just talk to you before approving you.

Here’s my FAV number for Chase: 1-888-245-0625. The post below will list more numbers for all the banks, show you examples, and go into more depth.

There is nothing worse than wasted miles or opportunity, and that’s exactly what happens when you just stand idle and don’t act on a denial. I always tell myself I’m earning at least $500 for the 5 minute phone call. That’s a good rate! If I didn’t call, I wouldn’t be able to get the card or the miles or travel the world. Bogus.

I hope this helps, and best of luck on your phone calls!

We haven’t had any issues with it, but YMMV. We never transfer the same funds back and forth on the same day.
