I don’t know when I’ll be flying Lufhansa First class again, since United devalued their award chart. It breaks my heart every time I think about it. There are still ways to fly LH F, just not through United miles (unless you want to overpay). In the future, I will actually look to earn Miles & More miles through their co-branded credit card, or by transferring in Starwood points, but that’s another post.
Flying home in Lufthansa First Class was an epic way to end a…well, epic trip. We traveled to Dublin, London, Brussels, the Champagne region in northern France, and Paris. Yeah, we covered some ground.
I’ve flown Lufthansa First a handful of times, but I’ve never flown in LH F with four people before, so I was pumped. It’s way better than flying alone! Here’s my post with how I was able to book 4 tickets in LH F. Plus, we had a great time crushing it in the Lufthansa Frankfurt First Class Terminal before our flight, and were even driven to the plane in a Mercedes. Redic.
I’m always grateful when I get to fly in style, especially with friends and family. That’s what this hobby is all about! Alright, onto the review of our Lufthansa 747-8i First Class flight. Hopefully it won’t be our last.
We were obviously riding high when we started boarding. First Class on the 747-8i is on the first level of the plane in the nose. I like the privacy, but it can be noisy, and I always seem to feel more turbulence up front.
The seats are arranged with 3 on each side of the plane, and 2 in the middle of the back.
And yeah, we had the whole back row!
After finding our seats, we were greeted and offered pre-flight champagne. Let it flow! The service on the flight was incredible and the crew had a lot fun with us.
After snapping a few shots of the cabin, I looked for the amenity kit so I could get….
Socks. I always change my socks first thing when flying business and first class.
Of course, I just had to put my pjs on, and everyone laughed at me. But within 5 minutes, they had their’s on too. Not the most stylish, but makes for comfy travel.
The seat is awesome. It’s spacious, comfortable, and well designed. I had all the storage space I needed, leg room, plug-ins, and lighting.
I love the automatic shades. Push the button once, and you will get a thin shade. If you want darkness, just hit the button again.
Even though the flight was under 10 hours, and it was during the day (US time), we decided to get turn down service and a little shut eye. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I came back to my bed all ready for me with a bottled water in the corner. Love that.
Jordan killing time, watching what I can only assume to be a chick flick.
It seemed like there was non-stop food and drinks. I think I gained 5 pounds just on this flight. The food was good, but I wouldn’t say anything was great. But c’mon, it’s on an airplane.
I enjoyed the food in the First Class terminal much more, but the champagne and wine were excellent in-flight, too.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get any of my favorite pretzel bread before my meal, but I wasn’t complaining.
I’m not the biggest fan of caviar, but felt like it was my duty to have some.
Yes, they kept rolling out food. It never stopped.
I think I was food drunk by the time I got to dessert. That’s the only way I can explain this pic.
And there was even more food after our naps. I wasn’t hungry, but I couldn’t turn down a pretzel roll and pasta. So weak.
We had an incredible time on our flight and are so grateful that we were able to fly like this, and with good friends. Killer time. The tickets for this flight would’ve easily been $10,000 a person, so thank you, miles and points! This is when the crazy hobby really pays off. Great experience with friends and family that I would’ve never been able to experience before.
I have to admit, since I was with Jordan and friends, I may not have been paying as much attention to the flight for the review. I was in the moment. Here’s a more detailed review of the same flight when I was flying alone earlier this year.
