Review: Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome.

Yup, it’s a review of the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome. As many of know, we were just in Paris- and not using my two free night certificates from the Hyatt Credit Card at the Hyatt Vendome would’ve been travel blogger suicide. So, since I like writing Noob Traveler and my readers are the best- I decided to keep the blog going by staying at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome. Here’s the Noob’s review. Enjoy…

Location

The Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome is located next to the Vendome square and the Opera Granier. We didn’t make it to the Opera, but we will definitely try to next time. It’s also a 7 minute walk to the Louvre. Talk about a killer location. The Metro located on Rue de Rivoli is only about a 5 minute walk, too. This made it easy to hop on and off the Metro when we were exploring Paris.

There were also plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Shopping along Rue de la Paix can be pricey, but we found much more affordable cafes and plenty more shopping just 5 minutes away. And of course, you can see the Vendome square to your right as you exit the hotel.

Room

We used my two free night certificates from my Hyatt card for this stay. And since I applied for the Hyatt Visa as a Diamond member (I’m no longer a Diamond member), the two free nights were in a suite. Suite life! If you apply for the Hyatt as a Platinum member, you will get two suite upgrade certificates (on paid stays) and the standard two free nights. I had no issue at all trying to book our room with our certificates. I booked our suite on my first attempt. I love it when things go smoothly.

We were booked in the basic suite, the Park Suite King. I didn’t bother asking to be bumped up to the next suite level. We were happy enough with the 1,070 Euro a night basic suite. Yep, if we would’ve paid cash, it would’ve been over $1,300 a night! We would never shell out that amount of $$$, but now you understand the value and quality we were getting. A basic room would’ve been over $500 a night, so the Park Hyatt is a great place to burn your two free certificates from your Hyatt Visa card, as well as your Hyatt Gold Passport points. It would’ve been 22,000 points for a basic room, or 33,000 for the suite we were in. And we all know Ultimate Rewards points transfer into Hyatt, but those are steep prices.

We loved the Park Suite! It wasn’t the biggest suite we’ve stayed in, but for Paris, is was huge. As you know, I’m a freak about showers, and I loved this walk-in with dual shower heads and seat. The bathroom might’ve been bigger than the room, too. It was huge.

Service

The customer service you receive at the Park Hyatt is top class. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were treated like royalty. The gentleman who checked us in offered to give us a tour of the hotel, and then escorted us to our room, where he showed us how to work the lighting, window shades, internet, etc. Waiting for us in the room was a box of chocolates and champagne, which was a very nice touch. He then gave us some tips for getting around Paris, which was really helpful. We didn’t have a bad interaction throughout our stay. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

In addition to our seamless check-in, since we are now Platinum members with Hyatt, we were given some extra care. Not only did we have a personal hand written message from the manager, but we received a comped breakfast. They explained that since it was our first stay at the Vendome and we were Platinum members, they would like to treat us to breakfast. This was huge, because the breakfast at the Park Hyatt was excellent, and it would’ve cost us over a $100. And it was all because we had Platinum status with Hyatt, which was simply gained by signing up for their branded credit card. Redic. And after breakfast, we even ran into French icon Tony Parker (sports reference, or you may know him as the guy who was married to Eva Langoria).

The hotel also offered a nice gym and sauna, which we never took advantage of because we were too busy living it up in Paris to care about fitness. Slackers. But we did look at it! Maybe next time. There was also a great bar, which we enjoyed one evening. It was a little pricey, but considering everything else was free, I didn’t mind using my Hyatt Visa on a few drinks (and gaining 3x points per dollar). I’m always ok with gaining more Hyatt points. Plus, I was hoping for running into Tony Parker again. In addition to the bar (which had indoor and outdoor seating- nice), there were plenty of seating options in the open area downstairs. It was all so inviting, it was hard to go straight to your room without relaxing there first. The hotel also smelled of baby powder and roses (or some flower). Very nice.

Noob endings

We absolutely loved our stay at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome. It definitely lived up to all the hype. The location was phenomenal and great for exploring Paris. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. A great place to come back to once we were done exploring for the day. And what separates Hyatt from the rest is the service (especially if you have status with them, which is as easy as signing up for the Hyatt Credit Card). I definitely recommend the Park Hyatt. A great place to use your two night certificates.
