Upgraded to *Suites* on Singapore Airlines.
This is the reason I collect obsess about miles and points.
A while ago, I blogged about how I was able to snag up the holy grail of award booking. First Class Singapore Airlines. Boom. By pure luck (well, a technical glitch on the Singapore Airlines website) award booking opened up for their *premium* cabins.
I was elated, so I snagged an epic trip for Jordan and myself to Thailand on Singapore Airlines, First Class. Yes, Jordan was giving me a hard time for caring more about the flight than the destination, but it’s all good. She’ll understand when she is being pampered like no other in the friendly skies.
BUT, just when things couldn’t get any better- Singapore Airlines changed planes on my inbound flights. And with these plane changes, I got upgraded from First Class to *Suites*. Yes, that exists.
On our first plane, the 777-200, there are no suites (just first class), and we had first class booked. Now that Singapore changed the plane to the Airbus 380-800, where there is no first class (only suites), we got upgraded. Whoa. I feel like the luckiest man alive.
You can’t even book suites with miles. Even if there is a computer glitch. Ever.
We received the upgrade on our flight segment from Singapore to San Francisco. So if you were able to take advantage of the Singapore Airlines glitch, CHECK your itineraries. You may have won the lottery too.
I wouldn’t have been able to book this epic trip if it wasn’t for rewards credit cards and the points I earned by signing up for and using the cards. I used Ultimate Rewards points generated from my Chase Sapphire PreferredSM and Ink BoldSM with Ultimate Rewards rewards cards. Jordan also has both of those cards. I like being married sometimes.
Did anybody else get a Suite upgrade?
