I just received an email from Lufthansa saying that I have until December 15th to apply for the 50,000 Miles & More® Premier World MasterCard®.
I’ve been thinking about adding the Lufthansa card to my wallet while the bonus is at 50,000 because… I love flying Lufthansa premium cabin flights, of course. And since I’ve mainly used United miles in the past for those premium flights, I’ll be needing a new way to supplement my desire to fly LH premium cabin flights. If you didn’t know, there’s a devaluation on United miles going into effect in Feb., making it really really expensive to book partner flights in business and first class.
There are going to be fees and surcharges when using the Miles & More award miles to fly premier Lufthansa flights, but they are worth it, in my opinion. It’s 85,000 Miles & More award miles (plus fees) to fly Lufthansa First one-way, or 170,000 miles for a round-trip ticket. Hefty, but adding 55,000 miles (after minimum spending requirement) from the Lufthansa Premier card is a great starting point.
You can also top off your Lufthansa Miles & More account with SPG points earned on the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card or Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express. You will get a 5,000 bonus for every 20,000 transferred, so you have options. Awesome sauce.
Here’s the Lufthansa award chart so you can check it out. And if premium cabin flights aren’t your thing, you can even travel domestically on United/US Airways for 25,000 points round-trip in economy or 35,000 in business/first. You would get two round-trip tickets with the 50,000 points sign-up bonus from the Lufthansa Premier card.
The news that the offer is ending on December 15th, 2013 is coming from Lufthansa and not my affiliate channel, but these offers usually coincide. Of course, I have no way of guaranteeing that.
If you don’t already have a Barclaycard card, I would check out the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard®, especially if you don’t think you will be traveling on Lufthansa.
If you currently have a Barclaycard card and want to apply for the Lufthansa card, it helps if you have some spending on your previous card. Check out my sick deals page if you’re wanting to add in some other offers too.
The 50,000 offer on the Lufthansa card is the highest offer I’ve seen on the card. Barclaycard has been getting more aggressive in the rewards card space, and has raised the offer to 50,000 a couple of times in the last few months, so if the timing isn’t right for you to apply now, don’t rush it. The 50,000 offer will most likely be back in a couple of months or so.
My link is below if you’re thinking about applying. Thanks for the support if you choose to apply through the blog! And as always, feel free to comment below or shoot me an email if you have any questions.
